Ok, so in my effort to thwart the Blogger bar, I fux0red the layout on the Bloogle, but it is better now. Not perfect, but better. I don't think Haloscan will work with the hide and seek comments, but I'm still playing with it. Heck, I'm still playing with it here with Bloggers comments: Firefox renders the comments as visible, and refuses to hide them, I must have missed something somewhere. Further proof that IE is an idiot as far as compliance is concerned.
